What sort of businesses win grant funding?

In the last 18 months we have helped our clients to access over £1.7million of grant funding (£1,747,000 to be precise).  We thought it would be useful to provide details of this so that other organisations can appreciate what sort of businesses can and do win grants.

Manufacturing and Engineering

  • Rober Ltd – £49,000 from the D2N2 Unlocking Investment for Growth Programme towards production equipment.
  • Quartex Components Ltd –  £8,000 grant towards the purchase of specialist spray tooling equipment through the Global Derbyshire Programme
  • Brampton Brewery – £10,000 funding to assist with the establishment of a new bottling facility secured through Global Derbyshire Programme
  • Bulk Metals – £11,000 from the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership Business Growth Programme towards the redevelopment of the business site and purchase of scrap processing equipment.
  • Valley Heating Services – £36,000 grant from the Global Derbyshire Programme for expansion and refurbishment.

Retail

  • Straight Curves – £33,000 grant towards the purchase and refurbishment of new premises through the Global Derbyshire Programme.
  • Field Candy Ltd – £28,000 grant towards the purchase of a specialist printer. Hambleton Bard – . £8,000 grant to establish a purpose built turbo yeast production facility at new premises secured through Global Derbyshire Programme.

IT and Telecommunications

  • DTS Digital Ltd – £10,000 grant for the development of a new IT product from the Global Derbyshire Programme.
  • Nibnak – Innovation Voucher £5,000 and a separate £15,000 for business start-up support from the Global Derbyshire Programme.
  • IT Desk – £18,000 from the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership Business Growth Programme towards the capital costs for the purchase and refurbishment of new premises.

Charities and Social Enterprises

  • Brass Bands England: £420,000 grant from the Arts Council for the expansion of their Arts programme to engage more children and adults in brass bands activities
  • St Luke’s Care – £115,000 Reaching Communities bid to empower vulnerable 13 – 25 year old young women to make positive choices, £140,000 Reaching Communities to work with vulnerable young people to improve their life chances and £10,000 Awards for All to help with consultation for future programme development.
  • The Really NEET Company – £450,000 Reaching Communities project to support young people to move towards a more positive future.

Events Management

  • Absolute Corporate Events – £12,000 grant from the Global Derbyshire programme for business start-up support.

Construction and Mining

  • Altilda – £45,000 grant secured to assist in the purchase of mobile cranes through Global Derbyshire Programme.
  • Mining Surveys UK: £20,000 grant towards the development of aerial inspection and mapping equipment using drone technology from the Invest to Grow Programme.
  • ABM Europe: £89,000 grant towards the purchase of equipment to enable the production of a new precast concrete product from the Nottinghamshire County Council Economic Development Capital Fund.
