Leeds City Region Skills Service

OVERVIEW
The Leeds City Region Skills Service offers support to businesses within the area to help them grow, by developing their workforce’s skills and expertise. The service aims to work with businesses to help them identify their skills needs based on their growth objectives, and find the right training solutions.

HOW MUCH IS IT?
Funding of between £500 and £50,000 is available to those businesses who are able to contribute towards the training solutions required by their employees. The grant is designed to act as an incentive for businesses to up-skill their employees.

ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA
Businesses must be able to contribute a minimum of 50% of training costs in order to be eligible to receive funding. Grants must be used to develop the skills of a business’ workforce, and can be used to pay for existing training courses or the development of new ones. To be eligible to receive support from the Skills
Service, businesses must be based in the Leeds City Region, i.e. Leeds, Craven, Harrogate, Selby, Bradford, York, Calderdale, Kirklees, Wakefield or Barnsley.

Businesses should be able to qualify as a small or medium enterprise, i.e. employ fewer than 250 people and have an annual turnover of less than £40 million.
Applicants must operate within one of the following priority sectors:

  • Creative and Digital
  • Finance and Business
  • Healthcare and Medical Technology
  • Hospitality and Tourism
  • Low Carbon, Environment Technology and Construction
  • Manufacturing and Engineering
  • Operations and Logistics
