ESIF – Skills for Growth

Two new European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) calls are open to applications in the Sheffield City Region LEP area.

Approximately £3,062,551 of European Social Funding (ESF) is available to run a project to strengthen skills provision and increase workforce productivity in the Sheffield City Region LEP area.

Two strands are issued within this call, applicants can submit applications to deliver one or both of them. Activities will be demonstrably co-designed with local partners, specifically employers and key stakeholders in the FE and HE sector.

Strand 1 – should provide support for collaborative projects, placements, internships or other activities with SMEs and micro businesses that enable students and graduates to gain industry-relevant experience and skills which can be in turn absorbed to strengthen future course content.

Strand 2 – should work with SMEs and micro businesses to strengthen employment practice with a focus on strengthening opportunities for those disadvantaged in the work place (eg mental or physical disability, English as a second language etc) through knowledge transfer programmes, industry-based projects etc. For example, supporting SMEs to calculate and analyse their gender pay gap and create an action plan to address issues.

All activities must complement existing provision, thereby adding value. Providers will work with the local integration board/s to support the local agenda and feedback on progress.
