Charity of the Year 2018

Announcing our first Charity of the Year: Changing Faces

We are delighted to announce that the Sheffield based charity Changing Faces will be FCS Associates Charity of the Year 2018.

Changing Faces supports and advocates for people with a disfigurement to their face or body from any cause helping them find a way to live the lives they want to lead.

From its Sheffield base it helps support children, young people and their families affected by a visible difference by offering psycho-social support. Children and young people with conditions, marks or scarring that make their body look or function unusually are exposed to medical, psychological and social challenges which make them liable to be disadvantaged. As such they are vulnerable to low self-esteem and confidence, isolation and exclusion, anxiety and depression.

At FCS we are looking forward to supporting Changing Faces to access new grant funding streams that will help them to further embed their excellent service and provide opportunities to explore new ways to support children, young people and their families on-line.

The FCS Charity of the Year 2018 package brings together support worth £3000 and includes a £1000 cash contribution which we aim to raise by undertaking fundraising activities throughout the year.

Rachel Fletcher, Managing Director of FCS ran the Yorkshire 10 mile on 14th October 2018 and raised an amazing £1145 smashing her £1000 target. If you would like to contribute towards this very worthy cause and help us raise even more, please take a minute to click onto the Just Giving page to donate.

Rachel decided to launch the inaugural FCS Charity of the Year initiative to support local charities to access support. ‘At FCS we see the challenge many small, local charities face on a daily basis raising funding and bidding for grants to allow them to support people in need. We decided to launch our own initiative to allow us to give something back to the local community and make a positive difference. We were really impressed with the impact that Changing Faces is making on the lives of many young people locally who are facing really difficult issues on a daily basis and we are really looking forward to working with them over the next 12 months’.
