Metcalfe Smith Trust

Metcalfe Smith Trust makes Grants to individuals and organisations where the grant will make a significant difference to the recipient.

Trustees welcome applications from or on behalf of individuals and organisations affected by mental or physical disability or long-term illness.

Trustees give grants only to applicants from the Leeds area. National organisations are supported only for projects specific to Leeds.

Grants are usually between £250 and £2500.

Grants can be made for convalescent or respite care; for purchasing necessary equipment and household items and for meeting other costs which living with disabilities inevitably incur.

The Trust can also make small emergency grants in between Trustee meetings (up to £150).

Trustees meet twice a year in order to consider Full Grant Applications. Applications are invited from organisations and individuals. However, individuals must provide a supporting letter from a charity, voluntary organisation, school, or professional such as their GP or social worker. Shortly after the meeting, applicants will receive an e-mail with Trustees’ decision.
