10 Things Your Business Needs to be Tender Ready

November 28, 2017

By Rachel Fletcher

Every year across the UK over £230bn of spend is procured involving 4.9 million businesses. The size and value of this marketplace has recently been recognised as important to the growth and sustainability of the UK economy and therefore in recognition of this the Government has recently made a commitment that at least 25% of public sector contracts will be awarded to SMEs and independent auditors have been commissioned to ensure this happens.

Are you Tender Ready?

If you are interested in bidding for public sector contracts then at FCS we recommend that you become ‘Tender Ready’ prior to responding to any opportunities. Here are 10 of the top key things we think a business needs to have at their finger tips to be tender ready

1. 3 Years of Accounts – that said if you haven’t been trading for 3 years you can still submit a tender.

2. Insurance Information – including Policy details and certificates

3. Track record summary – include details of the contracts you have already undertaken including value, deliverables and time frames.

4. Organisational Chart

5. CV’s of key personnel – often it’s a good idea to have short bios and longer CV’s to hand.

6. Quality Assurance Accreditations – if you have ISO9001, EFQM and such like.

7. Health and Safety Accreditation – including CHAS and SSIP (depending on the sector within which you operate and the type of contract you are tendering you may simply need your H&S policy).

8. Environmental Management Accreditation – including ISO14001, EMAS and such like (again this will depend on what business you operate and what sort of tender you are applying for)

9. Standard Company Policies and Procedures – including policies such as Health and Safety, Data Protection and Equality and Diversity.

10. Business Continuity Plan
